Firstly, let me introduce you to our tourbus.  The big puple truck.  Bookings can be made at www.thebigpurpletruck.com

I loved the purple and yellow!

This was our tour”truck”  If you would like to tour the flowers of Namaqualand in a “as near to the nature as possible” environment, this tour is an absolute must!

The big purple truck offers you a “no frills - no fuss” tour with friendly tourguides.  The truck offers you a kind of intimacy with the other tour members, as it can only accommodate around 20 people.

In the back it has a little kitchen and it’s lovely to stop along the way and have a bit of lunch right in the middle of all the flowers.

I just loved the green crocodile smiling from the side.   He made you feel very welcome!

But that is enough said about the truck.  Let us get on with the tour!

Our first stop was at Paternoster.  We stopped at “Oep ve Koep”.  A quaint little shop where you can find a lot of lovely things to fill a tummy.  This is where we got our lunch and coffee.  The people are very friendly, and I must say, the calamari I had was just lovely.

And then we headed to ….

to have our lunch :-)

Lovely

Then our journey took us further up the West Coast to St Helena Bay.  Did you know that there was actually a “mini tsunami” there the same day I was there!!!  Stands to reason.  But luckily it washed over these shores long after we left there.  I think I actually created a storm!  Not all can say that.

We went through Elands Bay, Lamberts Bay, Stompneus Bay.  Did you know that Stompneus Bay is the only place in the world where the sun rises and sets at the same place?  Amazing!

Please forgive me if I don’t have all the names in sequence.  But I am not here to educate you, just to give you feedback on the wonderfull tour!

When we finally arrived at Waterval - thats the place we stayed the entire tour - we were tired and hungry.  We were met by Johan Smit and his friendly wife, and were treated to a lovely plate of real food :-)  Potjie with rice and pumpkin you’d die for.

These are the houses we stayed in.  As I previously said, this is a “no frills - no fuss” tour.  These little houses offers you bare necessities.  No grand curtains, his and hers basins or silk sheets.  But you can live nature as it was intended to be.

This was what we saw the first morning we woke up there!  Isn’t it beautifull!!

Even the moon smiled at me :-)

And this is the waterfall on the farm.
